PASTOR RON AND SYLVIA WENZEL

Sylvia and I were both born and raised in Lancaster County, PA; as a matter of fact our families went to the same church and we attended the same high school. Our ministry journey began at a small church in SW Louisiana after we had served a year of volunteer service in that church and community. After 8 years of pastoral ministry there, we moved to Ohio to serve a church in the Dayton area. That ministry continued for 11 years, and we've been at the Trenton Mennonite Church since 2012.

We have three grown children (Katie married to Jared, Jason married to Emily, and Lindsey married to Brad) and four grandchildren...so far!  In our spare time we enjoy running, biking, kayaking, pickleball, golf and traveling to spend time with our families.

We believe Jesus is the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6).  We both have a personal relationship with Jesus and would love to walk with you in your journey with Him.

You will find videos of Pastor Wenzel's weekly sermons at the Trenton Mennonite Church Facebook page.

CHILDREN'S PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Hi! I'm Kara Conniff, Children's Program Director here at Trenton Mennonite Church. I have a husband, James, and we have been married for almost 15 years. We have two kids, Ryleigh and Jameson, and an energetic Gordon Setter named Copper.

I have been a teacher for the past 15 years and enjoy teaching high schoolers German and English.

I have been a Christian for as long as I can remember and have attended many different churches during my life. My family and I attended a VBS at Trenton Mennonite about 4 years ago and fell in love with the people and have been coming here ever since.

In my role as Children's Program Director I plan fun quarterly events for children and their parents, I plan and run VBS, and I select  and plan the curriculum for Children's Church. I often teach Children's Church as well.

Here in God's Garden, our Children's Church, we have been studying the life of Jesus using song, storytelling, crafts, and games. In 2019 we will focus on all of the major Bible Stories of the Old and New Testaments!

We would love to see you and your children at our weekly Children's Church at 10:40!

CHURCH HISTORY

Our roots in Butler County can be traced to 1818 when Christian Augspurger of Strassburg, Germany, arrived in the Miami Valley as the first Mennonite in the area.  He came with six families and purchased land near Trenton and Collinsville.  In 1830, Jacob Augsburger was chosen and ordained as the first Mennonite preacher in Butler County, Ohio.

In 1832, a group of Hessian Mennonites, from a different area in Germany, arrived in the Butler County area.  Because of cultural differences, the two groups of Mennonite organized two congregations in 1835. The two congregations reunited in the 1890’s and many descendants of both congregations still reside in the Trenton and Butler County areas.

Our current church was built in 1907, with the fellowship hall and additional Sunday School rooms added in 2005. The Trenton Mennonite Cemetery, founded in 1863, is still located on Wayne Madison Road in Trenton.

Trenton Mennonite is a member of the Central District Conference of Mennonite Church USA.
