PASTOR RON AND SYLVIA WENZEL
Sylvia and I were both born and raised in Lancaster County, PA; as a matter of fact our families went to the same church and we attended the same high school. Our ministry journey began at a small church in SW Louisiana after we had served a year of volunteer service in that church and community. After 8 years of pastoral ministry there, we moved to Ohio to serve a church in the Dayton area. That ministry continued for 11 years, and we've been at the Trenton Mennonite Church since 2012.
We have three grown children (Katie married to Jared, Jason married to Emily, and Lindsey married to Brad) and six grandchildren...so far! In our spare time we enjoy running, biking, kayaking, pickleball, golf and traveling to spend time with our families.
We believe Jesus is the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6). We both have a personal relationship with Jesus and would love to walk with you in your journey with Him.
Our Sunday worship services can be viewed at the Trenton Mennonite Church Facebook page.
“And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.”
Jeremiah 29:13
CHURCH HISTORY
Our roots in Butler County can be traced to 1818 when Christian Augspurger of Strassburg, Germany, arrived in the Miami Valley as the first Mennonite in the area. He came with six families and purchased land near Trenton and Collinsville. In 1830, Jacob Augsburger was chosen and ordained as the first Mennonite preacher in Butler County, Ohio.
In 1832, a group of Hessian Mennonites, from a different area in Germany, arrived in the Butler County area. Because of cultural differences, the two groups of Mennonite organized two congregations in 1835. The two congregations reunited in the 1890’s and many descendants of both congregations still reside in the Trenton and Butler County areas.
\Our current church was built in 1907, with the fellowship hall and additional Sunday School rooms added in 2005. The Trenton Mennonite Cemetery, founded in 1863, is still located on Wayne Madison Road in Trenton.
Trenton Mennonite is a member of the Ohio Conference of Mennonite Church USA.
